Isabella, una joven adinerada, se enamora perdidamente de Andrew. Al enterarse de que él vive en la pobreza, se ofrece a "adoptarlo" y "comprar" su amor con dinero. Poco a poco, Andrew termina enamorándose de ella. Sin embargo, la empresa del padre de Isabella quiebra de repente, dejándola con una enorme deuda. Su padre se suicida y Andrew desaparece sin dejar rastro. Isabella se ve obligada a pagar las deudas y vive una vida de penurias. Pasan los años y ahora Isabella trabaja a tiempo parcial en un bar, donde se reencuentra con Andrew, convertido en el hombre más rico de Nueva York. En ese momento, Isabella se da cuenta de que nunca ha olvidado al hombre que más le dolió. Pero sus identidades ya no son las mismas. Bajo una enorme presión, ¿podrán volver a estar juntos?
