Story

Charlotte, a young jewelry designer, shared a deep bond with her newlywed husband Henry. Several years into their marriage, Henry fell into a coma after a severe accident, leaving Charlotte heartbroken and nearly without the will to live. One day, Henry's younger brother Hayden, who had been involved in the same accident, suddenly woke up—behaving, moving, and even adopting habits exactly like Henry's… It was as if Henry's ""soul"" had awakened in Hayden's body. Unable to accept this, Charlotte pressured Hayden to prove his identity. Yet Hayden, now bearing Henry's memories, not only replicated Henry's genius in business and finance with precision but also knew every intimate detail of their married life. What’s more eerie—the moment Henry’s condition turned critical, Hayden had been on the verge of death in a boxing ring. Gradually, Charlotte found comfort in this ""soul transfer"" theory, especially when she discovered Hayden could perfectly mimic Henry's handwriting, recount every moment from their first meeting, and even repair a necklace she had designed—a piece only Henry knew how to fix. After repeated confirmations, Charlotte finally believed that Henry's spirit truly lived on in Hayden. When Henry eventually passed away, Charlotte grieved yet felt a strange relief that her husband's soul remained in his brother's body. She slowly grew accustomed to—and even accepted—this new reality. However, when their relationship was discovered by Henry and Hayden's mother, they faced severe moral and ethical condemnation. By then, Charlotte was already pregnant with Hayden's child. Hayden’s mother refused to believe in the ""soul transfer"" story and begged her son to tell the truth. In the end, Hayden confessed to his mother: there had never been any soul transfer. He had fallen in love with Charlotte long before his brother did. After Henry’s accident, unable to bear Charlotte's despair, he decided to pretend to be Henry—so she could go on loving him, even if only as a substitute. On her deathbed, his mother urged him to tell the truth and not live a life of self-denial. But by then, Hayden was too deeply in love with Charlotte. Knowing she still loved Henry, he chose to remain Henry's ""shadow"" forever—and never revealed the truth.
